NATURAL GAS PIPELINE WELDER

JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
USDI is seeking a Natural Gas Pipeline Welder to perform pipeline welding, construction services, and maintenance activities for owners and operators of natural gas facilities.  The job will encompass various aspects of natural gas requirements, to include welding, construction, repairs, and field services such as leak surveys and valve inspections.  Work is typically performed outside and must conform to the strict requirements of state and pipeline safety regulations and company procedures.  The individual will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Steel Welding and Polyethylene (PE) Fusion

  • Pipeline construction, including service lines, mains, and intrastate transmission lines

  • Assist in setting up new construction jobs and projects

  • Assist other USDI offices, as needed, with construction projects and operating obligations

  • Maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) certification including annual PE Fusion certification and semi Steel Welding qualification

  • Maintenance of construction trucks and equipment

  • Available for after-hour service calls, as needed

  • Compliance records and documentation

  • Interface with clients on a regular basis

  • Understand, review, and comply with state and federal pipeline safety regulations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or EquivalentAble to work independently and within a crew setting

  • Able to work with minimal supervision or assistance from others

  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills

  • Physically prepared for hands on job tasks in all types of weather conditions

  • Able to pass initial and continuous federally required Operator Qualification evaluations

  • Able to effectively operate various company supplied equipment

  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays

  • Experience with natural gas industry highly preferred

  • Experience welding on live natural gas pipelines is strongly preferred

USDI is seeking a Natural Gas GIS Technician to perform activities related to the implementation of customized GIS solutions for natural gas operators.  The job will encompass various aspects GIS, GPS, data collection, app development, and field utilization for natural gas compliance activities.  Work is typically performed inside as well as outside, and must conform to the strict requirements of state and pipeline safety regulations as well as company policies and procedures.  The individual will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Provide technical expertise and end-user support related to GIS & natural gas asset management

  • Development and update of custom natural gas compliance applications (apps)

  • Collection and conversion of mapping resources and data

  • Collection of data in the field utilizing  GPS

  • Compiling and organizing GIS data from maps, databases, and other sources

  • On-going spatial data maintenance and dissemination

  • Generation of maps and other GIS reports

  • Creation of maps and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and/or ESRI software

  • Ensure that quality assurance on new or revised data conforms to standards and company policy

  • Conversion, import, and export data in and out of the GIS system

  • Direct the preparation of regular status reports, highlighting GIS issues requiring attention

  • Create and document processes and procedures

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Experience with various GIS and CAD software, such as ESRI and AutoCAD

  • Experience in developing and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products including use of ESRI software and Global Positioning System (GPS) units for data collection

  • Experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software

  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD as related to infrastructure mapping and management

  • Experience with natural gas industry a plus

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Substitute Education for Experience:
Related technical or vocational school training will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis. 

Two years of additional experience in engineering technology, fire science or a related field will substitute for the required education.
